Independent garage in Maidenhead/Reading area
Can anyone recommend a good independent mechanic or garage in the above area please ?
I live in Maidenhead and work in Winnersh, near Reading (Berkshire). I need someone who I can trust to do a good job fitting brake discs, pads etc...
Cheers

Speak to Len at Subaru 4 You.
If you do a search on SN you will see many a happy customer with his service/price.
He's based in Thatcham at the moment, but it is worth your while giving him a call.

Smashing. Going to book my car in with him soon!
Does anyone know the make of the discs and pads he has advertised on his website ? I was going to go for the EBC grooved discs and red stuff pads originally.

I think he sources Black Diamond bits as a rule of thumb, however, you let him know what you want and he should be able to get it. He could get me Ferodo, Pagid, and a few other brake pad manufacturers items when I spoke to him about this a while ago.
IMO, don't go with EBC - I've had their pads in the past and I feel there are better ones out there. I'm sure a friend of mine also had their discs and he complained something chronic about them.
BTW ignore the detail on/state of the website as he's been meaning to update this for years. Give him a call and he'll talk you through all the bits he can source (which is forever getting larger).

I got a quote from Bulldog Twyford (main dealer) for the 50,000 mile service inc. cambelt that was less than £10 different to the one from Subaru4You. I think that Bulldog may be keeping their ear to the ground and cutting the servicing charges (labour element?). Bulldog seem a friendly enough bunch of people who seem enthusiastic and I think they offer a courtesy car service. Having said that, Subaru4You are very well recommended and it's a close call.

The EBC Ceramic Red pads are a very highly rated pad.
I run these with Godspeed discs all round. Vast improvement over both standard and my last Brembo disc/DS2500 pad set up.

Cheers chaps for the vote of confidance.
I shall look into the prices on the 50k and others, as I know them quite well at Bully.
If I knew that it was that close a call then I might need to realign some prices, but it didn't help me having to go Vat reg....
