Angry Shafted by another member...

Why do Scoobynet members shaft other Scoobynet members?

Bought a set of 6 POT Brakes for £650! and after fitting, when pressing the brakes were leaking oil from within the casing of the calipers...then been told it may be a fitment problem??

Think the seals maybe gone...but either way it cost me a NEW 18" alloy...

Name n' shame?
or Post count...and how low is their member ID number? (the lower the older), and where have they previously posted?

This place is like a local pub these day, you know theres always some geezer selling stuff - he seems ok, but your never sure if he's dodgy ir not.

Can you get a rebuild / seal kit? for the calipers?

I've noticed there are a core of users who's sole purpose of registering on this site is to sell stuff - a quick post history check reveals their true selves

Yep TSL- Hi-Spec...

The oil leak is near the silver bit..im going ot check with Hi-Spec tommrow if it is the seals...but had not expected to spend any more on them...

The seller replied to a email saying it may be a install fault...?? but all was done was the braided hose was connected to the caliper and then bled and then when applying the brakes oil poped out...but ofcouse i realised when driving..

I am sorry to hear of your Problem but I hate to see posts like this as it does seem to finnish Diplomacy between the Buyer and Seller.

Has he offered you anything like, to reseal them or a refund ??

Bit of a grey area on a forum as well, because legally it's a case of buyer beware, at least on something like ebay, you've got a contractual obligation to supply something as described, and you have more come back to complain should their be a problem.

T5NYW...No has not offered a refund, only that they were working before hand...

Iv only had my Scooby for 2 ODD months....and upgrading brakes were kind of new to me...hence did not know how crap the TSL Calipers were...But hey you learn a new thing everyday...i'l just have to remember for next time..

But will try Hi-Spec in a mo, to check if they can be refurbushed or something..the bigest problem was me not being able to drive till they come back...

Costs involved so far:

Wheel Refirbusment: £60
Caliper Service Kit: £156+ VAT
New PADS: £100

So really I GOT SHAFTED...

I think it was unfair of the seller, and i really hoped he would come to an agreement, but all i got was The were removed by extreme, and i can not coment on how you fitted them...Though i forget do you need a Diploma in changing brakes?? I think not!

Its actually anoyed me so much that, i am never going to buy from here again, as this was the 1st purchase i have made on Scoobynet.

understandable, but not everyone is all bad, i've just got Mark A's engine from the groupbuy, seems ok up to now, I must admit, putting 1300 quid into someones bank account is a bit daunting, but you just have to trust and hope for the best. used to be on the rsoc board when I had the cossie, everything was ok there, it's just a shame that some people spoil it for the rest of us, we should have a sticky post at the top of the for sale and wanted forums to name and shame the bad people. there will be a case for hi spec to pay for the damage caused, but does the cost of the claim outweigh what you have already spent?

Thanks...

I could have bought myself a pair of Brembo's for the amount that i have to spend...and they look a million timers better..

Anyhow..im driving to Hi-Spec now to get the service kit...

The guy still keeps claiming that they worked fine...and suddenly i have started getting replies to my emails i send him...so afer i open the calipers if the state annoys me more i will put his name out.

I dont think anyone would deliberatley shaft someone with brakes.. However you could have shagged them whilst fitting, if you got ANY crap in the fluid then it could get under the seal and cause them to leak.. unfortunatley as with anything on here its
SOLD AS SEEN / UNSEEN

Post count and id number means nothing, buy my AP's off me and they dont work after you fitted them, you wouldnt get a refund, probably wouldnt even get replys to mail.. Just a polite FO. & Tough, or 'worked on mine '

Sorry its not helping much.. Hispec may have problems with run out on discs etc.. but I doubt they manufacture leaking calipers..

Maybe worth stripping them, brake cleanering everything then reassembling, (ensure you use loctite if needed) the see how it is..

I would think most know who it is by now, just do a search for 6 pot Brakes and bingo, it's there in black and white or colour

Unhappy MY REPLY ! ! ! !

NOT QUITE SURE WHY THIS HAS BEEN POSTED IN THIRD PARTY !
It was made very clear to you there
MAYBE YOU ARE TRYING TO TARNISH MY COMPANIES NAME WHICH IS WRONG !
MAYBE IT IS TIME FOR ME TO POST THE EMAILS WE HAVE EXCHANGED TO SHOW THE WHOLE STORY RATHER THAN YOUR ONE SIDED STORY !
YOU CHECKED THE BRAKES OUT PRIOR TO PURCHASE & I DIDNT STOP YOU GETTING ANYONE TO CHECK IT OUT !

I am totally shocked by what you say
They were working fine on my car & I was not experiencing any problems !
The dust covers were fitted on the day of the Rugby world cup final by HI
Spec & they made no mention of any problems !
The Car was left with them a few weeks ago & they refinished the brake discs
& they refitted the brakes back onto the car & again made no reference to
any problems.
If there was a problem why didn't they mention it then ????
Sorry mate I think you need to speak to Hi Spec & sort it out with them !
I sold these brakes as they were in fully working order & wouldn't have sold
them if I had thought there was anything wrong with them ! That's why I had
the discs refinished prior to selling them !
Again Xtreme didn't notice a problem with them either !

Cheers
Paul

Paul,

Made a trip to Hi-Spec, and then seals are gone and the pistons also
require
changing as they are croded. Cost of repairs £120 + Labour.
Sam

I can assure you that these brakes were sold in full working order !
They were removed from the car by Xtreme in Boreham & were working fine.
Obviously I cannot comment on what happened to them after they were sold.
I am afraid that I am do not feel responsible for anything which may have
happened to them after you took them.
I can understand why you are upset but cannot see how I can be
responsible
for what has happened

Sorry
Paul

Dear Paul,
Have the brakes fitted, the seals are gone, as when driving the
calipers have leave Brake Fluid on to one of my wheel, and now requires
refurbushing.
I was under the impression that these brakes were working correctly.
Can you please advise as now i will have to get them repaired, and i
think it is alitle unfair for me to pay for this as for the amount that i
paid
i expected them to work with out requiring to be fixed. I am having to
send my wheel off to get refurbushed end of this week due to the fact the
seals are gone, and would be appriciated if you can to come to some form of
agreement.
Kind Regards
Sam
