servicing costs for Legacy B4?
I'm considering buying a Legacy B4, no more than 5 years old, but before I take the plunge I want to find out how much I can expect servicing to cost me. This is bearing in mind that I would use the car for business aswell as for fun, and I probably do 30,000 miles a year.
Are they reliable?
Do they eat tyres?
How much are brakes?
Any idea of how much I should pay for an unmolested standard model would probably help aswell, especially as my local Subaru dealer just doesn't seem to be interested!
Thanks.
BB

They are grey market only, so servicing will need to be done by a specialist (unless you find a dealer that wants to, and knows how to do it properly). Sorry, but not aware of the costs in the UK.
Try the legacyb4 group on yahoo for more info - you'd be surprised how many of us there are about

servicing dirt cheap - use an independent specialist , filter etc is same as impreza - do use subaru original parts always though don't go to a main dealer else you will pay extortionate hourly rates.
I change oil every 3 k miles - though I suspect you won't do it as often reccommended intervals are 10k km = 6.5 k miles - if you work on 70 quid per service then you will have a fairly big bill at the end of the year
insurance - evily expensive - try liverpool victoria
brakes - don't use oem - they are expensive and chocolate anyway - buy good 3rd party items + take the opportunity to upgrade to something decent - eg brembos from red dot at 800 squid
30k miles = new set of tyres per year - at 300 squid - recommend goodyear f1s from wembley tyres - 80 each.
fuel consumption is going to be your main expense - has to be run on optimax and you will get 21 mpg if you use the performance
also reckon on a cambelt service at 600 quid odd even you are doing big miles
all in all, you would be better off doing your big commutes in a cheap hatchback and saving the b4 for weekends or long journeys where comfort is a factor

Hi Guys
servicing is the same as Impreza T, for cost.
Have a look at subaru4you.co.uk for price schedule, soon be moving to Newbury hopefully. I use Motul oil and genuine parts.
So if I can help and its not too far to come ...........
