I went to Rc developments to get a engine rebuild, and spent a whole load of cash with them, the service that i got from them was terrable, and they kept my ecu,and said to me that it belonged to them if i did not ask for it.
I had to fork out another 300 pounds and got a whole load of ear ache from them for not asking for my ecu.
I advice nobody to go there as all you will get is nothing but crap.

Unhappy

I've been quite a few times but they have never bothered seeing to me.. Just kept me waiting for over half an hour so I just left..

Also contacted them over the phone on a couple of occasions re FMIC etc, never bothered ringing me back..

Would'nt bother going again, spend your money elsewhere people..

rant over

That sounds like total nonsense.

Unless you got an 'exchange' price for a remapped ECU, all parts that were fitted to the car remain your property entirely. Insist on it being returned, or pursue them through small claims court.

Cheers,

Alex

If the ECU was a replacement like an Apexi then they should have give the old one back without question. The TEK 2 Ecutek product is a remap of the factory ECU so you wouldn't get the old one back (ie done on an exchange/remap basis).

I had to ask for my wheels back and my exhaust otherwiae they would of kept that.

I am now using Jap Innovations and think they are alot better and reasonable in price.

Rc You are a load of W****rs and wouldnt **** on you if you were on fire.

Oh thanks jenni for charging me 150 pounds for a turbotimer with no wireing

You are obviously annoyed with RC, but for sake of keep this thread factual and containing useful info to other users, perhaps you could explain, in a factual manner :

- what you went to RC for and what was agreed
- what was done
- what was not satisfactory at the end

Just a thought

This doesn't look particularly clever - someone with just 2 posts is posting something serious allegations against a supplier.

Either explain your position, or this thread will be locked.

Cheers,
Nick.

Chiark

I have just checked out bdscoobys car today and the statements above appear to be genuine, in fact there is much more he has not mentioned yet.
He is not a happy bunny.

I am not makeing any allegations i have spent in the region of 9000 pounds with RC and i have had two independant checks and both parties were not happy with the results of what Rc Had done,And when one company did try to ask some help regarding the wireing of the ECU,He got a reply of Clive that yes i can give you a diagram of the wireing but i am to busy and put the phone down.
I thjink it is only fair for other people top know that RC are not as good as they advertise, not only do i have a missing ECU but other problems wirth my car in which i have to spend another £1000+,so i am not a happy person.
And as Andy F has seen my car,i am sure there are alot more people not happy with RC.

I think it is Fair that i should tell other guys to save there mony rather than spend it at Rc,cuz its been nearly ayear since i have had my car and in that year i have driven for about two months and it has been more in the garage for bad repairs.

I went to Rc for a engine re build, but with improved parts i.e cosworth rings and pistons i.e to make it bullet proof,i had agreed that i wanted at least 350bhp,what was also agreed was no discount but he would throw in some parts for free.which he did not. Also we came out with afigure of around 5000,but he made a bill for 7356.69,As he had added parts without confirming them to with me.

The engine rebuild was done with the ECU tweaked but not tweaked good enough as the car had to go in after a month and half for a blown cylinder in which clive agreed that £5 worth of unlkeaded can not do that damage, but then i had to pay another £1360.00 because of the £5 of wrong fuel, but was not given a fault report.

Everything was not satisfactury as i ahd no choice to spend more money to get the bhp i wanted and then realised the crap i have top go through for not sticking with them to re mapp my car.

The engine re build was done and the ecu just tweaked

bdscooby

That sounds harsh, I've seen a few people get caught out with engine rebuilds by other engine builders.

Hope you get it sorted, Alex

Cheers for posting the explanation chap

The reason for asking for clarification is that we've had a few people sign up with the sole purpose of stirring. It does sound like you could have received better service, to put it mildly!

Until now I had an open mind on RC Developments but in addition to the above I am aware of three Apexi ECUs mapped by them to a less than optimum standard and two other cars with Apexi AVCRs which had absolutely no chance of working satisfactorily.
The owners of these cars were over the moon with the transformations in performance after the work was carried out satisfactorily by Andy Forrest, Jonny Gav or myself.
It rather looks like this is another "Expert Subaru Aftermarket Specialist" with glossy advertisments and crap results.

Yet another 'box-shifting' Subaru company

Companies should test ALL products before selling IMO. If you cant test the product, dont sell it. Dont rely on all the marketing crap.

Hope you all get it sorted mate. I know what it is like.

BDScooby, am i correct in thinking that you asked for your ECU back, 12 months after having it replaced.

Now i'm not saying you are wrong but waiting close on 12 months before going back for something is a tad long and i'm not suprised they havent got it.

4 months!!
should have asked for it at the time
they are tuners not parts looker afterers
if they kept everthing that was left with them after they worked on punters cars they'd quickly run out of space to work!
I dont know about your other beefs with RC but this one is out of order IMHO.
