Hi guys,
The gearbox on my '94 UK Turbo is about to let go.
So i was wondering if anyone knows a good breaker I could try because if i get it re-conditioned it might not be done before christmas which would be a big problem for me.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Dave.

Thanks for all the replys guys.
A few suggestions for GradeA there. Phoned him earlier and he says £450 + vat. He also said I could put a post 97 gearbox in with minimal mods? Anyone know if this is true?
Mick - Yeah if you could send me that list it would be great. dave.faulder@btopenworld.com Thanks.
Chris - Would they be the people who build rally cars as well? Someone recommended them for interiors and other random bits I think.
Thanks everyone for your help.

Yes you can put a Post 97, it will fit with some persuasion, some garages to make it fit even easier will just grind part of the box corner down.
This ground down bit is an extra hole used to secure the Post 97 boxes but isn't on the pre 97 boxes, so it is definately not essential to have but makes fitting the box quicker.

Yep thats them.
I had a clutch supplied & fitted inc replacing the thrust bearing for £250.
Less than half the price everyone else quoted.
I also noted then number of gearboxes that where there for repair that had come from dealers .
I can imagine the mark up once the dealer passed his bill on.
They are prity good for the odd interior part as well - due to stripping cars for rally prep.

Having said that about interiors and stuff I was going to change the one in my car as it is the awful grey tweed style seats but I'm not sure if I want to keep the car anymore. I just can't afford to keep fixing it. I've had it 6 months and already it's needed brakes all round and a clutch and now this with the gearbox. I wouldn't have thought that at 105,000 miles it should be dropping to bits. It's already had a clutch in once before.
Just can't afford to keep pouring money into it like this, by the time the box is sorted it'll have drained me of over £1200 in 6 months not including tax and third party only insurance at £1200 a year.

Don't loose heart mate.
Theres not much else you will have to fix.
Might as well run it for a year and get some use out of all the bits you've bought.
Having said that - nobody ever claims they are cheap cars to run.
Take it out for a B road blast to remind yourself why you keep paying the bills.
Chris
P.S. Town ends no is 01524 733837

Yeah got that list thanks Mick.
I know whats going to go next and it'll be the shocks because they mot tester said they were weeping around the top. Now I know this isn't the end of the world but me being me I'll want coilovers etc. It goes on and on. But yes I have to agree it is one of the best cars I've ever had. It's as much fun as the Corrado VR6 it replaced anyway.
The car came with reasonable spec when I bought it:
'94 UK Turbo
Full Trust de-cat exhaust
18" Mania Jade alloys
Bailey Dump valve
Cone filter
Lexus back lights - which I should point out I don't normally like but on my silver car I think they look quite smart really.
If I keep it though I'm wanting to replace the interior which is the horrible grey tweed. Also put on a bigger rear spoiler and a lip spoiler around the front bumper as I think they look very plain without this.
We'll see I'll have it til after new year now at least anyway.
