the first auto gearbox was fitted incorrectly causing it to fail 2 days later, the second autobox now fitted was the incorrect one to match my wrx , different ratio to my rear diff so it shagged that then killed the the transmission went back the speacialist for warranty purposes and to get sorted to be told no warranty was given at all on the work so basically washed hands of me

Whilst Xtreme Scoobies does deal with gearboxes & replacing parts & so forth, our technician has over 15 years of experience at the highest level.

This job has not been carried out or undertaken by Xtreme Scoobies

This job was carried out by us but the facts are far from what is being stated above.

The customers auto box had failed. We offered the option of replacing the box with one from from a written off, with the box carrying no warranty, sending the box away for a rebuild, at approx twice the cost but having a 6 month warranty or installing a new box at four times the cost of option one and carrying a twelve month warranty. The customer chose option one, saying he was selling the car amnd wanted the cheapest option.

A week after fitting the box it started slipping in gears. Although the customer had been made aware that the box was not warrantied, we felt this was unacceptable and we changed the box at no cost to the customer but substantial cost to ourselves.

The customer called me on Monday this week to say that after 4 months the pipe to the gearbox oil cooler had split on the motorway, losing the gearbox oil, and that the gearbox was now damaged. He said that we should have changed this pipe as part of the work that we should pay for another gearbox.

I disagree.

The diff on this car has always been worn but the customer did not want it changed.

Angry

The facts are Really far away now !
the reason the Oil cooler pipe Split was because the the transmission oil in the gearbox was over filled by double the normal amount this is what the RAC informed me on recovery of the car Plus the Speedo cable was snapped and patch up probaly when the gearbox was torn out they forgot to disconnect the cable thus breaking the clock the cable and the km/h convertor , i had a speacialist check the car over after this he found bolts missing from the engine wires drapping across the exhaust Turbo Heatshield loose and cracked , it was all a mess .

perphaps they need to read up some more on jap import auto wrx's
because at the moment i don't think they have a clue.

Oil cooler pipes don't split because the box is over filled, no way not never, that's bull sh*t, the RAC are wrong, plain and simple.

I have 10 years in the trade btw

The RAC et al will tell you anything!

A hose has split, fair enough. Oil will be lost as a result so it's impossible to say how much was in before never mind calculate that it was double the recomended amount! It just doesn't add up!

The option with no warranty.

Nuff said, I agree with Pete after 4 months it's tough cookie when it was sold with no warranty.

Sorry but you chose the "cheap option" saying you were selling the car, you chose not to. I think that anything that happened after 3mths let alone 4, on a box with no warranty is well within normal guidlines. As for a pipe splitting, well, never trust any mechanic who says anything roadside, afterall, they are not the ones going to fix it, its just their own "quack doctors" opinion. You would stand a better chance of a true opinion asking your mates down the pub after several pints !

"Cheap options" rarely often work out, not if you intend to keep something. But enough said, I think you have learnt your lesson and will give things proper thought in future.

Mate.......all I can say is that "**** happens" and unfortunately it happened to you.

Sounds like the garage went above and beyond the call of duty in the first place. That said if I was them I wouldn't even offer the option of parts from a breaker, especially if unwarranted.

I've never heard anything but fair and reasonable responses from Mr Croney in response to bitching on the board. That speaks volumes about the integrity of the company.

I don't know what's to do for the best on this thread. It almost seems that the poster is out for "revenge" on Scoobysport. Scoobysport have explained their position.

anything else is pointless conjecture. If no-one disagrees violently, I suggest locking this thread before it gets into petty sniping?
