Having recently brought a Scooby, this garage
is my nearest dealer for servicing etc. I am
interested in peoples opinions of this garage.
Fenny Compton being my next nearest.
Feel free to PM me with any opinions Good or Bad
to save publicising any slanderous comments (if
there are any)
Cheers

They use Castrol GTX. It's the right viscosity at 15W 40 but it is only semi synthetic. They will allow you to take your own oil in. I was going to but the oil arrived the day after my service, so i now have an extra oil change to do.

it's basically not an exact science but the bottom line is they buy in bulk & they go 4 sumin which will suit most the cars which sadly isnt ideal for the top end of their marketplace ie scoobies. So yes u can use a variety of oil but generally advice if u search thru the mass of "which oil" threads then anything from 5W:40 (although a bit thin & not most recommended) to 15W:60 (better protection when giving death like track days etc is my understanding) but definately the one thing u do really wana treat scoob to is FULLY SYNTH I have used 10W:40 fully synth in the last few services including a few at carstins & while they r happy with u doing this i wood recommend watching them do it (scooby ownership paranoia) just to ensure they do use this, as i did have them clean out the muck once when they started using part synth after i'd told em to use mine & then had to start again with mine lol.
They may say they aint insured to have u in garage but i said on my head be it then & carried on loitering with intent!
Si
PS fully synth is if anything marginally more expensive than wot carstins wood charge but worth it IMO

When comparing 45k service costs (Cambelt on MY99) Fenny were a lot cheaper. I've had 4 Subarus serviced there and live over an hour away, but will still go back if/when I get another one, rather than use the local dealer.
They were also extremely helpful when the bottom half of the engine melted down. New engine under warranty.

Mine was in there today - no probs at all (maybe that's cause I know the owner's daughter, who works there).
I think they cleaned it too after service.
Unfortunately I forgot to get my ownoil, so got Castrol GTX - I am hoping Magnatec, but am not sure. Regardless, in 2k i'm gonna flush it out and treat it to fully synth, so won't be a problem. The most important thing is to change oil regularly, and not to mix, hence the flush.
