Picked her up after the 30K, bright sunlight anxious to get my car back jumped in and drove home, pulled into garage get out and OMFG the car is covered from Roof-sills with fine scratches. Immediately get in doors phone dealer to complain, services now shut ring tomorrow at 0830, left message with then to let them know car is scratched to b0ll0x. I then drive round parents to borrow a car so they can take mine back to dealers, get out and have a closer look at car, its worse than I thought, I couldnt find a part of the car that wasnt scratched, looks like its been through an militry car wash on the remove camoflage setting.
Needless to say I'm pi55ed and intend to portray this to the service dept this morning.
Anyone else had this? did you get anywhere?

Daz,
Really sorry to hear that. Suggest you don't go in with the "all guns blazing" attitude but try a calm, reasoned approach. Don't allow yourself to be fobbed off or wound up, and keep it pleasant. In my experience (from both sides of the counter) it's the reasonable person who gets the helpful treatment and the shouting git gets the very least help possible.
Good luck on this.
Nick.

Thanks for the advise Chiark, calm attitude was applied and problem explained, guy who looked at car couldnt see the scratches but agreed to take the car in to have a look and see what they can do. Car is now booked in for Friday for them to look at but not sure of what the outcome will be.
I'm not sure if these will polish out as I guess thats what they will try first, but if scratches still there do you reckon they will respray?
Just seen the giant car wash with lovely fine green nylon bristles, which signals to me probable cause.
Just have to wait now.

Whatever, they were acting in best endeavours. You "authorise" then to service your car. By valeting, they probably thought they were going "above and beyond" to delight the customer. Shame it hasn't worked.
if it's from a car wash, I would hope that they'll polish out easily...

Wash wasnt part of service and no I didnt authorise it but as Charik states prolly just dealer going above and beyond to impress customer.
I did a little buffing with next to no effect, and the ones on the bootlid look considerably worse then the rest, it even feels rough in places, morette has a partial matt finish now as does part of the bonnet. I just cant believe that they would use a washer that did this to a car, if anyone else gets a complementry wash are they gonna end up with a car like mine? Lets hope not!

Had this happen to me on a Prelude that we had. After service dealer put it through the car wash. He also serviced site cars and I think quite few of them had been through before mine.
When I told the dealer the car was badly marked he took it back and put it to the bodyshop to get the scratches/swirls out. Must admit they did a good job.
Now whenever I get the scoob serviced I make sure that they do not wash it.
Alas

Had a similar thing happen to my Dad's Range Rover on it's first service.
The dealer had washed and valeted the car with the best of intention's. The valeter must have dropped the cleaning sponge because the car was covered in scratches in random direction's.
All sorted in the end , but I had to growl a little.
Hope you get it sorted.

A few people have had a look at it now and have all seen the scrathes, so it isnt just me being very picky,(or mad).
Only another day to go, just hope they can sort it properly.

Car wasnt collected by me, but when delivered there are still traces of scratch marks, looks very clean and obvoiusly waxed but if you look closley it looks like sandpaper has been used id certain places, and the blackness seems to have been removed and the car is looking bluer than normal.
Took car back to dealer as I wasnt happy, after much discussion....
I was told that they were swirl marks but you can see that they are not, its an old car so it went through the washer MY02 so not that old, ah but its done 30K, so ******* what?
Shame they didnt have confidence in their wash as when I asked them to put a showroom car through they wouldnt, guy wouldnt put his through there either. To me it seems that they know that the wash is **** and can cause damage so why are they using it on soft metallic paint? shouldnt they know better?
dealer finally agreed to take car back to send to impound to sort out.
My worry now is that they will do the same again and the marks will still be there. Not sure where to go from there if that happens, it was hard enough getting them to take it back again.
I am thinking of contacting IM to see if they can advise.
Booked in on 29th so a bit of a wait but rest assured as soon as its sorted this dealer is never touching my car again!
Any advise is very welcome,
Let you all know how it goes on the 29th

I think thats pretty much it as they wouldnt go into detail about exactly what was done.
Just glad to see her shine again, and I've seen the last of the dealer, Three guesses for what dealer it was, look at my location and have a stab in the dark.

Hi DAZ WRX i had first service done by them and a prodrive quickshift gear change fitted and they damaged the prodrive gear **** getting that off so had to supply new one. Having not learnt my lesson it then took three attemps to get some 18 inch prodrive ppf7 wheels fitted without them being damaged by their recommended tyre fitters!! They always in my recent experience put things right but its just the time and inconvience that it causes and i wish that they had just got it right first time IMHO.

Just spoted this thread Daz, sorry to hear the bad news, and hope things are sorted now.
Ever thought about taking it to Mill lane in Basingstoke as an alternative? I do, bit of a drive but worth it.
