Question

Hi folks.

I'm a newbie in the world of scoobies! I have to drive auto cars (long story...), but I was looking at importing a Legacy B4 RSK direct from Japan.

Are there any in this country all ready, and what is the dealer support like?

I'm really hoping to see one on the flesh and test drive, as it's probably the only thing holding me back from placing my order...

Any comments much appreciated, mail me direct if needs be.

TIA,

Lee

PS I'll trade geek poota knowledge for Scooby knowledge ;-)

B4 is a great car - try Litchfield Imports (they have a banner ad on Scoobynet)

I heard they had a couple of new ones - don't know if they are auto though.

Just a note: the auto has 20hp less than the manual. Also don't know how suitable the car is for auto - the only autos I've ever enjoyed driving are ones with loads of low down torque. That's not really what the B4 gives you.

Dealer support is a bit limited - the UK network won't touch them, & there's not much knowledge of them outside a very few specialists. Not many have the Subaru Select monitor to get at the ECU error codes either.

I'm all for more people buying B4's though - the more there are over here, the better service & support, & availability of tuning bits we'll get

there's also a B4 bbs on yahoogroups - you'll find some B4 auto drivers on there, & loads more B4 info

Cool

Thanks for the advice folks.

I've been onto Park Lane, and theyre going to sort me out with a test drive.

I have to drive auto (left arm paralysed after bike crash..). The Honda I've got is a beaut motor, just a bit short on power at 150BHP. Honda are next to useless when it comes to tuning, saying that there are no approved tuning suppliers, and they don't want to know. The dealer is brilliant, they're ready to do whatever I want, but it'll void the warranty. Also, it gets a bit tricky not knowing how much power the box will take (which Honda won't reveal)

I know that all the power is going to be stacked up top, but the tiptronic should help with that. My Honda has the fastest auto change I've ever experienced, only not on the steering wheel (something else Honda don't want to know about). I can hustle the Honda at a fair speed, enough to get me into trouble ;-)

I can live with a 20BHP loss, as I'll prolly make that up with some aftermarket tuning. Besides, super unleaded should help a little, it does in the Honda.

I'm surprised that UK dealers don't want to know. Again, Honda's dealers are very accomodating, far better than Honda UK!

If the importers can look after the motors then that'll just have to do.

Anyways, I'm seriously considering the RSK, and a test drive will probably swing it.

It's between the RSK and a Mitzy VR4.

Anyone recommend an FAQ on the RSK? Save me bugging you folks with the same ol' questions)

Thanks again.

Hi Lee

I got a new B4 RSK from Park Lane in April. Great car, but I had to go for the manual to ensure the most oophm.

There are a few places to service, Powerengineering is one place not too far from Watford, down in Uxbridge.

I will proably take mine back to Park Lane for a service. Support so far is excellant at Park Lane, but there prices are a bit on the high side. They do drop the price when pushed (over a £1200 off initial price).

Good luck with the test drive.

Hi Lee,

The B4 is the one to go for. Have had my manual for over a year now. All the above info is correct about Park lane and Litchfield imports (Cheapest by a long way). I got mine from Track Marques in Acton.

Make sure you get the newest model. See web site below for info.
