Could anyone tell me where I could get a WRX serviced in the north london region. Will they take the 3rd party warranty, and does anyone know of a good insurance company for the import cos I'm getting quoted £1900 with 5yrs NCB.

Don't know any in North London, but you could go to Scoobysport (01268 590 085) in Basildon or Power Engineering (01895 255 699) in Uxbridge.

For insurance, Greenlight are good, but do a search and you will find plenty of suggestions.

If Clapham is any more convenient, you might want to try an outfit called MSP. I hadn't heard of them until a couple of weeks ago (cheers Paul for the tip-off) but I paid them a visit yesterday. Their main business is building groupN rally cars, and their workshop is quite impressive. I saw some three-way adjustable 50mm Prodrive GpA damper units that made my LEDA kit look like a set of toothpicks, but so they should at eight grand a set!

They don't really do road car tuning but they are happy to do regular servicing. They gave a very good impression of themselves (no BS, plenty of technical knowledge and enthusiasm, and some good workmanship on display), and I will be trying out their services soon myself, no doubt. Insurance: I am 33 and have returned from 7 yrs in Switzerland to study in the UK for a year. Didn't have a car out there, so no NCB. = very high risk for them, despite clean licence for 15 years.
Best quote I got for MY95 UK car was £1,280 from Hill House Hammond with Haven Insurance (0800 096 1888). Worst was £5,600 from an internet pirate.

Cus - have you tried Subaru Privelage insurance ? - I'm 20 driving a '98 Impreza - its a sport and I was getting quotes upto £1930 for fully comp with 3 years ncd. - Subaru Privelage did it for £630 - which I thought was not bad at all really - there no. is 0990 133667 - good luck !
