Torque Split
#1
Can someone who knows for sure please confirm the torque split Front/Rear for a MY99 Uk car?
There seems to be some uncertainty around the BBS. So far I've seen:
60:40 Front : Rear
40:60 Front : Rear
50:50 Front : Rear
Thanks

The real answer is it depends on you car!
The older UK cars and I dont know about the Japanese ones had a 50:50 split but there where still some exceptions here such as the Type R's
The new uk cars have moved the torque split bias in favour of the rear which can be seen by the different final drive ratios in the front and rear differentials.
The Current Type R's have an even heavier rear wheel drive bias.
I have deliberately not but figures doen here because there seems to be alot of debate as to what it is.

According to Jap WRX brochures, manual cars have 50:50 split, autobox cars have 35:65 split and cars with manual+adjustable diff have 35:65 split under default setting.
I think the UK car have 50:50 split.

I'm soon to pick up a STI III V Ltd RA, which has the electro diff adjustment. In the real world how and where would adjusting the diff make any improvemtns to the cars handling? The car in question has 3 LSD's. Which one/s does this device alter?
From 'sponge man'. It's my first Subaru and i'm soaking up all information up at the moment!
Regards.

The only time I ever adjust the diff in my Type R is when there are adverse road conditions such as rain or snow in these conditions the rear end can get a little wayward and by moving the diff control forward it brings the back end under control. Other than that the diff is normally just left in the free position. Unless I am doing some press on driving down certain types of country roads when I would also move it forward a notch.
