Question

Hi
I am finding 98 Ron fuel harder to get in the west country, Only one garage left in my area to purchase 98 Ron fuel.
I have the PE phase 1 and the car was given this conversion when using 98 Ron. Seeing the results of others using 95
Ron this is comparable to mine on 98 Ron, am I wasting £10 a tank on fuel? I was wondering:
1/ Can I use 95 Ron without any problems?
2/ Will the car have to go back to PE to be reprogrammed?
3/ How much power will I sacrifice going to 95 Ron?
4/ What sort of price are we talking about?
5/ How long a job?
I have put in 95 Ron once (half a gallon) just to get me to a garage which sold 98 Ron.

Bob,
I find that amazing that your in Bristol and you only have One garage close by with 98ron.
I live in Weston and we got Two garages that sell it.
I`m afraid I can`t answer your other questions....
maybe try some octane booster?

There are lots of garages that sell 98Ron, that’s if I want to go into Bristol and sit in our traffic jams. I live on the
outskirts of Bristol and have 8 garages in my area only 1 of these sell 98 Ron. My local garage has just stopped selling it.

The question is am I wasting my money with 98 Ron when other PE Phase 1 owners are getting the same power using 95 Ron.

Bob

I asked David about this, he said that he would have to "knock it back a bit" or he could make a more thorough revision "as a job" which I think implied more money.

Either way you will probably find that it will not be that happy on 95 if it was mapped on 98. These days David advises people to bring the car in for the remap with 95 in the tank. If you do then run two or three tankfuls through carefully as the dregs of SUL make a suprising difference in the first tank. (speaking from Possum experience)
