Unhappy

After some debate (here and at home) I (had?) decided to replace my standard suspension with new shocks (KYB) and Eibach Springs.
I was going to mail order the parts and get them fitted by the dealer in Newcastle, Staffs.

I phoned them today and they quoted 200+VAT to fit the parts and 80+VAT to have the car 4 wheel aligned..

Whilst I don't mind paying the latter, is there anyone who knows where I can get the parts fitted at a more reasonable price, as this stuffs the price from 350 to 700 quid, and I might as well forget it (Or am I being unreasonable ?)

Cheers,

Mark

When getting P1 suspension fitted to my MY98 car, Falkland Performance Centre in Glenrothes charged me about £150, including VAT and included the 4 wheel alignment.

To be fair, the book time to replace the suspension is about one hour per corner, but most places do it in about 2 - 3 hours total, plus some extra time for alignment, depending if there are any problems encountered (e.g. faulty top strut mounts, bolts that won't come off etc). So if your dealer's labour rate is £50+VAT, then the estimate is probably reasonable.

Talking

I phoned TSL-motorsport today and they quoted 350 inc. VAT for the springs, fitting and alignment....

Unfortunately, they'd never heard of KYB Shockers, but I've seen posts here on scoobynet recommending their use with Eibach springs...

This means my total price of 550, not 700 - which is far more reasonable !

Cheers,

Mark

KYB are O.E. on Subaru`s.I find it hard to believe that TSL didn`t know this. The cost of these is around £75 a corner. If you need a definate price on these dampers, mail me as per profile.
