After some initial production teething problems on the first 7 up-pipes, our solid ones have proved 100% reliable. My own has been on the car for over 30k. We have now supplied well over 100 and have nothing but good feedback.
I think a flex joint is completely un-necessary. Consider also, that there isn't one in the downpipe, which is also rigidly bolted and running almost as hot and if a pipe fails, it will fail at a flex joint. The standard ones do.
