Don't buy a big 5400rpm one in preferance to a smaller 7200rpm one - unless you are just using it to store mp3's etc.
Look for 2mb cache and quick seek times too if this is going to be a disc with games installed on.

I think Super_Si is referring to the drop off in performance as the size increases
If you look at this article you can see that the throughput of the drive gets less as the size increases.

You could argue that two 40Gb drives will give better performance that a single large 80Gb one.
Persoanlly I'd go for the biggest one I coud afford OR if I had RAID, get two a get the best of both worlds.
Anyway, that Maxtor one looks like the dogs danglies
