Question

Can anyone arrange 3 days of work experience for a neighbour's daughter at the start of July?

She needs to arrange 3 days of work experience as part of her A-level course. More precisely, it's supposed to be "work shadowing" - she would accompany somebody on a day-to-day basis, seeing how an IT dept works. She wants to go into IT in the future, once she's finished her A-levels and degree.

She's a smart girl, and a good laugh, so would be no problem for the 3 days. The question is, can anyone (preferably in the City, so she can travel up with me) arrange for her to do this at their company?

I can arrange a copy of a covering letter and CV if necessary.

Thanks

Mark

Surely somebody here must work in the City and be able to at least ask if there's a potential for work experience? It's only 3 days FFS!!!

Mark,

It might be worth contacting the HR departments of some of the large banks directly. I presume this is as more of a supervised visitor rather than a payed position?.

Cheers,

Alex

Thumbs up

Yes, it's a supervised position, and would be unpaid. It would literally involve shadowing the person in question, and seeing what they do, day-to-day, for 3 days.

Jemma has been/will be contacting some of the big companies, but I just figured that since there's a lot of people here who work in IT, there's a good chance somebody might be able to help.

Try our various english offices. KPMG invest highly in that sort of thing as it looks good for us.
