Wireless keyboard question?

Wireless keyboard question?
How long should the batteries last?
Mine seems to be eating batteries, a set lasts about 3 weeks.
There seems to be no way to turn the keyboard off when not in use?
Or is that done by turning the wireless mouse off?
And why would it use relatively little and expensive AAA batteries, while the mouse uses AA?
It's an ACER, btw.

Depends how much you use your keyboard (judging by how much you post on here then quite a lot ). With heavy use three weeks might not be bad.
There isn't a power off button as the keyboard is essentially off / in a low power state until you press a key. Then it will be using power to transmit the code for the keystroke to the receiver.
The mouse uses more power (assuming it's optical) as it has to power a laser or LED when it's being used.
Why don't you get some rechargeable Ni-Mh batteries for it. They generally have a higher capacity than their alkaline equivalents and a lot cheaper if you are going through them.

I'll probably get infracted for this but my Apple one lasts for months using Apple/Eneloop batteries. There must be a Windows keyboard out there that can work that well.
