Macbook Pro and new hub. What do I need to do ?
Please bear in mind that I find a paper-clip technically challenging.
Next week the BT chappie arrives to install the new HomeHub 5 and connect the super fast broadband that has arrived in the village.
My Macbook pro is 6 months old and we have an old HomeHub 1.5 at the moment that it recognises and works from (wi-fi).
What will I need to do after the new hub is installed and I turn on the laptop ? Will it automatically pick up the signal from the hub or do I need to 'do something' so I have internet access.
The wife's desktop iMac is no issue ???? as she will continue to use the ethernet cable rather than wifi but again, will keys have to be hit to make connection ?
Many thanks.
Brian.

They a rarely setup your machines and especially shy away from macs. When the BT engineer arrived for our BT Infinity I let him do the sockets and modem. I did the rest, there was no way I was going to let some cable monkey near any of my equipment.
The home hub has a small card slotted in the back with the default admin password and wep key. You can either use that or go into advanced settings on the hub itself ( you do that via the browser on your wife's iMac, 192.168.1.254)
Wireless settings>Change the wireless key
Easy

Don't forget
Using your iMac find the ip address of the router. It is by default
192.168.1.254
Login via browser to that IP address
Take the card out the back of the router, make a note of Admin password, this is not the wifi key
Then advanced it will ask for the admin key. Change it if you like or leave it
Then you can change the settings on the wireless, network name, key etc it usually asks you for the admin password to confirm the settings
At this point you can choose a simpler wifi key
Then rejoin your macbook to the network using the new key and away you go
