Matsui tv broke flashing standby light
So went to put cartoons on this morning (for the kids) and it won't turn on! Just the standby flashes on and off and that's it.
It's an LCD 40" don't no the model number. I've googled and it just says to unplug it for a bit but that doesn't do anything.
Anyone have any advice or is a trip to bright house in order. Saturday night and all we've got is a crackly alarm clock radio to entertain us.

A lot of problems with TVs not turning on are power supply related. Usually a couple of capacitors gone, costs pence to fix yourself. If it's anything to do with the panel, then bin it as it probably won't be economical to repair.

I suppose the only to find out would be to open it up?

Yes, then look for capacitors that have gone slightly dome shaped on top. They should be flat. Obviously make sure the TV is not plugged in.
Heres a site with pics for what to look for (it's a site for motherboards, but it shows examples of knackered capacitors):

Find the capacitors that have gone, get the part number off the side and google it to buy new ones. Take a photo to help you remember which way round they go. Then de-solder the old ones and fit the new ones. Put everything back together and power up.

Here's a couple of pictures of one I did a few weeks ago. It was on a monitor, but same sort of thing. I take pictures of everything as I'm taking it to bits so I know how it goes back together if I forget. These pictures show the 2 black capacitors to have gone. Just be careful not to damage ribbon cables when taking it apart. The board on the left is the power supply and the small one on the right does all the audio visual stuff.
