With my old iphone 4 when it played up it was because there was too much still running in the back ground. To solve this you press the home button twice then all the apps that are running appear on the bottom of the screen. press and hold one of them then they start shaking and a delete/stop symbol appears on them. Then touch each app to turn them off. You need to do this every few days to keep the memory clear.

If I'm being overly pedantic, your iPad is not crashing, it's the app you are running that is crashing.
Key questions:
1. What app are you using to view the forum? Is it Safari or some other browser, or another app?
2. If you are using Safari, then are you viewing the full / normal version of SN, or did you click the OK button on the (annoying) dialog that asks if you want to use the mobile version of the site.
My first action would be to restart the iPad (hold down sleep / wake button - top right of device - until you see the "Slide to power off" slider, then slide it and power down the device, then hold down sleep / wake to power it back on). Once it is back up, check that no other apps are running, then see if the problem still happens.
Next would be to use Safari if you're not using it already and see if the problem is there.
If you are using Safari, clear the cache and history, and as a final resort, clear all cookies. Also try using the option to clear all website data.
If all of that fails, back it up and try some of the "reset" options in settings, finally culminating with a full factory restore.
I've had a couple of devices exhibit odd behaviour when they have not been restarted for quite some time. After a restart they behave again.

Try a soft reset.
Hold power and menu button together and don't let go until it reboots itself. usually cures all my Apple anomalies.
If the same app crashes repeatedly, hold the icon down until they all start wobbling with "X"s on them, and then delete the troublesome one and go back to app store to re-download it. it wont need to be bought again if it was a paid for app.

I have the YouTube app installed on the iPad yes, I have no idea what this IB app thing is though lol.
I've tried deleting cookies etc and closing down all running program's etc ( didn't even know you could double click the round button and delete running apps, I'm sure my iPhone runs faster now that I do this )
But threads with YouTube vids in still close safari on the iPad.
Cheers
