Default iTunes question

Chaps... I have an iTunes question.

I have circa 100gb of music, currently on a portable hard drive.

I'm not sure where best to store it- do I copy it to the MacBook, and let iTunes read it from the HDD (320gb, also have 128mb SSD) - or do I put it on my NAS, which is a new My Book Live 3tb on fast network.

Also, do I allow iTunes to organise it, and let it copy it to its folder (on NAS or Mac HDD)?

To further complicate things- I'm using iTunes match.

Anyway, can anyone suggest the most efficient way to handle it?

Thanks
Simon

I copy all my music from the nas to my mac and let iTunes organise it.

I moved my itunes directory to the portable USB 3.0 device and plugged it into my Router to become a second NAS device.
