Recommend me some new PC games
Afternoon,
I have a shiny new PC with the following:
Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz
Asus P8Z77-V LK
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x 8GB)
Asus GTX 660 Ti
OCZ 256GB Vector Series 2.5 SATA-III SSD
I'm looking for a couple of new games to play. I like simulations and strategy and also 1st Person types. Below are the games I particularly enjoyed over the last few years (in no particular order)..
Star Wars - X-Wing (the good old DOS days...)
I-War (probably one of my all time favorites)
Homeworld (1 and 2, but could not get on with 3)
Battle of Britain 2
Cliffs of Dover (only just bought it so not got into it yet)
Rome - Total War
Roller-coaster Tycoon
Age of Empires
Half Life
Trainz
Is there anything else out there I should try? It's been a while since I've been into the gaming scene.
Thanks

I suppose the chart games are still COD, Battlefield and Bioshock Infinite.
You could also go down the route of Starcraft II or you could go a little indie and check out Strike Suit Infinity.
If those don't take you fancy, you could try some FTP games like Warframe or League of Legends.
So many games out there!

Don't forget Crysis 1 2 or 3...Orr if you liked half life Then maybe half life 2? Its old now but will be dirt cheap and definitely worth a play if you haven't.
Big thumbs up for Farcry 3 from me too, best game I have played in a long time.

Farcry 3
dragon age origions and the sequals
mass effect 1, 2 and 3
skyrim (will take over your life haha)
If you get them through steam you can download them and use the tool box's to apply mods and such, some realy good ones out there, skyrim has water textures and effects added which look ace.
Flight games are a bit thin on the ground at the min, not aware of any newer good ones.

Skyrim is a must if you like 1 person games, along with Crysis 3 and if you like on line games then download warthunder and enjoy the open beta.
(Also try Mechwarrior on line which is in open beta if you like big killing machines and Eldar scrolls online, also in beta if you like Skyrin )

Thanks Littleted,
I took a look at Word of Tanks some time ago and thought that it would be one to try once I got my PC sorted out and had forgotten about it.
I'll take a look at those other ones as well. I'm not a big fan of Steam as I'm never sure where it's installing everything. Oh well, will take a look anyway. Thanks for the suggestions.

Nimbus, install steam then go into settings just change the location, and throw them somewhere you have oodles of room, I always change from c:\ to somewhere else and then just offload them all
OOOO I see your another person who like your Tank Destroyers Tony, also a fellow Type 59 grinder. You managed to grind your Tier X yet. I have I just cant afford it yet LOL.
I actually have enough exp for the E100 now also but im undecided to either get that or go for the e50 e50M or go get the M40/M43 SPG

Well, I downloaded and installed it and had my first battles. It's brilliant! Killed one enemy tank but then got taken out. I really like this game. I'm user "Cirrus4000".
I also just realized that the GFX card I bought with my PC build has a voucher for £100 worth of in game credit. I guess I need to figure out what to get with it once I've spent a bit more time playing.

ok advice is see how much you play and if you on every night or at least a few night a week but premium time.... I normally get 3o days at a time, then save the rest...
Don't buy gold ammo.....
if the type 59 tank ever come into the shop buy one as it makes lots of money quick, like 30 to 50k a game even when you loose. the Jag Tig 8.8 can also make good cash, Cash is good for Buying tanks.
If you get a tank and upgrade it, max it out, it then becomes ELITE, this means any EXP you get thereafter gets POOLED into a pot, you can then spend GOLD ( real cash ) on using that on, what I do is
Max a tank out then buy a new tank, then just grind each tank the 2x EXP every day and build the POT up, that pot can then be used on anything, Guns a new tank in any tech tree. at present I have 140k exp in my pot that's about 10 quid but it gains me the top tank, just a pity I don't have 6mill ingame cash to buy it
Guys im happy to use Skype if you all wanna have a chat
tobamory add me

each tanks earns xp and credits
xp is like research, credits money, so you reaserch new gun and engines etc for your tank or earn xp to research a new tank. then coin actualy buys you the item, or pays for ammo or repairs.
when you complete the research on one tank you still earn xp, but it becomes 'free xp' which you can pay, with real money (you get gold to use in game), to convert into xp useable on any tank hence the 'free' status.
so,
xp = research
coin = money
fee xp = research you can use on any tank
gold = what you buy with real money to use in game to convert xp to free xp or buy other stuff

gold ammo can be bought with in-game money just costs a lot, I never actually use it. normally use it only in Clan fights.
I save my free XP for that mega Uber tank later on cos they become a real pain to grind later
