Cool

Just look at your exchange on samknows and it will tell you if your exchange has FTTC and which ISPs are in there.

For most areas of the country, that isn't an option!

Its been rumoured for a few months now that O2 were going to sell its Broadband off but not until last friday it was confirmed as an announcement (and an email to customers) that the sale was going ahead.

You can use your own router, first you have to use theirs and on the unofficial sky forums there will probably be a guide how to hack your password out of the thing.

Yes, a surprise to me as well. I left them a couple of months ago to go FTTC (With Zen). I wasn't alone, so they were losing customers in droves and I guess that is why they didn't want to invest in the infrastructure.

BE* were great for the 6 years or so I had them, and a little bit ropey for the last 6 months with a congested exchange.

Zen is going very well, I have their 200gb package and I seem to use between 120gb - 150gb per month.

I'm using a Asus RT66U which is great, what did you spend £200 on?

Bought a Netgear D6300 - £170 odd, got fed up with flakey G& N routers dying on me so took the plunge..

Its the new AC spec, so apparantly stupidly quick when you use the right kit.

Its also Cable & ADSL compatible, so i can use it with everything

So far it seems ok, just got to figure the WDS part so i can link other wirless routers into the network

If I was going to go fibre, I'd stick with BT instead of SKY.
