Default Transferring an OS onto a Solid State hard drive

I'm looking for advice on something I'm attempting for the first time.

I have recently purchased a new laptop and an OCZ Vertex 4 SSD 256Gb solid state hard drive. My plan is to replace the conventional hard drive with my SSD hard drive to run Windows 7 from.

I used Macrium Reflect to clone my new laptops Operating System (C Drive) onto the OCZ SSD. I then swapped over the conventional drive for my newly cloned SSD. When I booted the laptop I got a screen which told me that the "boot device was inaccessible" and to insert my OS CD-ROM. I don't have a CD-ROM as the recovery section appears on its own partition on the laptop original drive.

How can I get around this problem?

Could I somehow perform a clean install onto my SSD using the recovery files? It is a large file at over 18Gb.

Any ideas for a way ahead?

Windows PE boot disk and imagex are my tools of choice at the moment.

Why not just boot from CD / USB and install a clean build of your OS on the new drive?

I use Acronis image 2012 and use a boot usb stick, new laptop im using now (HP 4740s) was imaged from a normal disk drive onto my Crucial M4 128gb drive with Acronis. Worked great and didnt have to mess about with the ahci settings.

I ended up doing that in the end. I made my own recovery discs from the HP Recovery program. It worked a treat. I'm impressed with the performance of the solid state hard drive. It boots and shuts down incredibly fast.

Yep they are a faster drive indeed.
Just make sure you dont defrag at it at anytime as the SSD drives dont require them, also can deter performance. Also worth making sure the drive is working in AHCI mode and that Trim is on and setup on the OS.
