Question VLC player on Mac crashing

As above i have installed VLC player on my Mac Mini 2011. Now it works on some movie files but on some it crashes. Even after doing a force quit it still wont shut down, it has that multi coloured spinning circle when you hover over the window its open in.

Cheers

Click the Apple, choose Force Quit. Update from the program or the web site.
