Help diagnosing windows copy problem
Guys
My laptop has a problem copying files outbound.
Copying to the laptop is fine.
For example - trying to copy a 300Mb file to a server on the domain will take hours.
Copying the same file from that server to the laptop takes seconds.
Can anyone suggest things that I can check.
It wasn't always like this.
I've ensured its got he most up to date drivers.
Changed network cable, disabled TCP/IPv6.
I'm connected at 1.0Gbps

Pretty sure I tried this before, however I did this
'netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled'
And tried another copy - a 33Mb file
From a local server, to my laptop - almost instant.
From my laptop back to server and 4 minutes later its still got another 31 Mb to go, supposedly at 16.7 KB/second
Network connection?
Its a wired local connection, not remote.
Wireless poses pretty much the same problem.
I'm connected to a wall socket, which from patch panel goes to a switch and its a gigabit connection.

Have you checked your routing?
Sounds like either:
a) Your packets from your laptop to server and going around the world and back
b) Your server is having serious problems writing to disk (is it writing to locally attached storage on the server or NAS / SAN?)

try setting the NIC connection manually to 1gb full duplex
if no improvement, try setting to half duplex and see what happens
try an x-over cable to remove the switch from the equation
jumbo frames issue maybe -- needs all devices in the comunication path to support it
update the drivers?

Follow Hodgy's advice and connect 2 machines via a cross-over cable.
This will eliminate any network infrastructure that could be causing a problem.
Based on the fact you can copy files onto your PC a lot quicker then I would suggest it's not network related, but networks are not really my expertise so I may be wrong
Try connecting your laptop to the server via a cross-over cable if you can and trying the file copy.
