DPNSS - QSIG
#1
Hi there, I 've got a new project in hand and i was wondering if anybody new of a decent media convertor product, i need to go from a G703 presented DPNSS signal to a G703 presented QSIG signal.
The project has about 700+ pbx units as such a centralised conversion system with a signaling VPN tunnel (as used in the 020 network) could be used but i'm open to idea's ??

I might do, Ill find out and get back to you.. (ask our Voice Data Team)
G703 is telecoms crap for everyone else... The only G703 I know of is two bnc connectors... but you convert it to different sorts of connector and possibly protocol?? Can also get it on 15pin D which is common for the routers...
Correct me if Im wrong which I probably am... Ill ask tomorrow though..

You can buy DPNSS to QSIG converters which are compatible with G.703 which is basically an E1 connection. I presume that you are also running G.704 framing for the 64k PCM circuits.
This should to the trick

They are expensive though

It does sound like a DMS will do it. If that is not what you want, as I do not fully understand your network description/scenario, then there one thing I know of.
The first point is that it is a protocol conversion using E1's, which I think is what you need (rather than a media converter). The converter is from Westell, the iQ8000 COTS product. My company (Nortel ) integrated a Westell product to provide DASS2 to DPNSS conversion quite a few years ago. The Nortel specific product (model 1200) is a repackaged iQ8000 effectively. The iQ8000 is still available and has much life left in it. It is also a carrier grade solution, which most converters aren't.
