Internet speed.Nice surprise!
I am on Virgin cable for TV,phone, internet.
Just had a problem with the net running like a dog.Re-booted laptop & no change so re-booted the router & then did a speed test.
I was on 10mb/s now appear to be running 30mb/s.
Running like Usain Bolt now.
Anyone else been upgraded? I am in Surrey.

I'm supposed to be on 50mb. Just re-booted as im only getting between 5mb and 11mb. still the same after re-booting. Virgin sucks !
I've had letters saying i will soon be on 100mb and 120mb by September. I would be happy if i just got the 50mb i'm paying for.

try a proper system reboot but either holding in the reset butting then whilst its held in kill the plug switch, wait 10 seconds then flick the switch back on and release the reset button.
or if you are able log onto the modem for that you will need its IP address and reboot from the modems own menu.
Just switching it off and on will not always do anything.
If you've tried that then I will just keep quiet lol

I am paying for a 20MB service with BT and due to the old copper wiring plus the distance to the exchange I am lucky to get a 4MB service.
NTL before they were taken over by Virigin had run a lot of the fibre optic cabling into and around the town where I live but the main contractor went bust and all the work just stopped before any of it was connected.
It would appear that BT Infinity will reach us by some time in 2150 at the rate it's being put back, they seem to think we should be grateful that we are even being considered for their slower than Virgin service.
Try using a 4MB service when you are paying for a 20MB service and then complain , it's just a pity that instead of investing in infrastructure for the future that BT put profit first and now the only way to fund the network upgrades is to get the consumer to pay more for a service inferior to the Virgin fibre optic network.

i was on virgin 20 meg, and 90% of the time, youtube vids, downloading etc would be start stop, start stop etc, even playing bf3 would be laggy.
im on sky internet at the mo. and over the next feek or so they will be trying different speeds or something out. but so far it is nice and smoth, no lag etc. and it is only running this at the mo, so much for virgine 20meg lol

Well for once I can't complain. Orange have been useless and my speed was generally 1-2meg. After numerous phone calls they seemed to have sorted themselves out - I was told my line could support upto 10MB and I should get around 8MB, well speedtest has just told me I'm getting nearly 14MB so that'll do for now

It really boils my p1ss when people whinge that they`re only getting 10 - 20 meg when they should be getting 50,000,000. Ffs, how fast do people really need it? I get around 3 meg and it`s fast enough for everything! People need to get a grip.

Amen to that brother. 6.5Mbit when no one else is online but evenings and w/ends slow as hell and lucky if I get 2Mb. I'm sure this weekend it has slowed even more - probably as I am moving to Sky (20Mb) on Tuesday. I was originally with Pipex which was fine but since TT bought them out its been utter crap.
Here's hoping TT actually stop billing me as heard a lot of stories about them "forgetting" that you left them and carry on charging

Some of us don't need to stream ****.... we have it "on tap" for real from a real bird called a "mrs".
Anyway... my response was meant to highlight that it's horses for courses and not one size fits all.
