Just got an iPhone 4s
Can anyone tell me what's good about it? Just not getting it, I prefer my old HTC. My daughter is due an upgrade next week and wants an iPhone, I might let her have this and get the Gallaxy S3. Any thought on this.

It's horses for courses, some prefer iOS and some prefer Android it's just personal preference.
I've had iPhones from when they first came out including the 4S, I bought an S2 to try out and didn't like it at all so I sold it within 3 weeks; but with the S3 just being released I am going to at least give one a test run instore.
The one thing is which is or isn't an advantage with Apple is that you buy the apps / music and in a way get 'tied' to their products in as much as the ease of ownership ie sharing all your purchases across their products.

It's just a fancy phone. You can run apps on it, talk to it, oh, and you can make calls from it too. There isn't anything overly special about the iPhone.

I have an iphone4 and a Samsung Galaxy S2.
My experience is that the iphone is particularly great because of facetime, which seems to work where skype wont, imessage for free messages to other iphones, battery life which is better than samsung, and ease of use.If you have an Ipad even better for sharing of apps etc. (I have an ipad)
Whilst on the Samsung you will appreciate the bigger screen, bluetooth that works as it always did (file transfer etc. to other phones) , flash browser and the fact you can download stuff to it.
Both phones are very good, currently i keep my iphone for personal use and the samsung for business use. Previously, i used the iphone for business use and it was great.
My advice is to give it a month before you make any firm decision.

I would still tell your daughter to get the s3 as there will be some good resale in that and you can get a cheaper used iphone and have some spare cash. I prefer the keyboard on the iphone as compared to android devices as nine times out of ten you type every thing right on the iphone but with the android devices there are constant mistakes and loads of full stops where the space should be, also the keyboard takes up lmost of the screen so ha the time you can barely see whatyour typing.
I tried to type this on my android phone and got sick of trying to correct mistakes as I cant see the screen for the keyboard.
