Aspire 5920 used for the last two or three years and no problems what so ever. I have another Aspire (####?) where the screen failed but no overheating issues.

I have a 5539g, it was doing exactly the same thing.

There is a temporary fix which is hoovering the vents out to remove dust.

There is also a permanent fix. But I warn you this laptop is b!tch to take to pieces lol.

Basically you need to clean the CPU and heat sink up and apply new thermal compound. Clean insides of all dust and rebuild.

This has solved my problem. Acer aspires are
Known for overheating due to poor ventilation.

Thinkpad T Series laptop, can't beat them for quality, reliability and robustness.

I've got an Aspire 5630 which does the same (minus the burns).

I've been looking for a new laptop for over a year, but I'm waiting for the new Intel Ivybridge processors to come out first, hoping it'll knock prices down of the Sandybridge models.

Sony E series, don't use it very often. When the fan kicks in it's ridiculously loud.

Will keep as a storage device and just use my iPad now :-)

slab of metal that the thing is made of, looks good and is quite good at getting rid of heat
