If its a new build, first thing I'd do is check temps, make sure things are seated etc. Run a http://www.memtest.org/ outside windows to check ram. Test a single gpu at a time, make sure its not a single faulty one. Just narrow it down in general.

Had the same problem,

Make sure you have the latest graphics driver, not the one that came with the cards.

Hi Ian

try upload your minidump on the 4shared or any free server.

Please try these steps

Go to Start > Search.
Type "cmd" > Rightclick "cmd.exe" > Run as administrator.
Run this command:
sfc /scannow

im just down loading it now.

if i look at my core temps (using a windows 7 wiget) it says the cores (when downloading) are at around 47-51 deg c

could it be a over heating thing when the game is loading?

I've had a recurring BSoD.

Does everything go big every so often and then you have to recal the resolution?

not that i have seen.

bf3 will start to load a match, and then it will die.

this is the strange thing, if i minilise it, so it is running in the back ground. it is fine and doesnt crash, but as soon as i click onto it to restore it, it crashes

looks like the graphics card is the problem or driver wise, change the graphics options for the game see if that helps .. but i think its a driver issue ..

Ian this atikmpag.sys looking like the causing your problems, newest drivers are unstable i would uninstall them and install older one if its possible, which ATi Catalyst you are now running?

And in which one slot(PCI-E) is installed your GPU?

Is in closest PCI-E slot closest to the CPU?

the graphics card is in the one with the locking clip on the end.

catalyst is 12.3

on the ati website it only shows you the current drivers. these are the only ones i have as its a new install

Uninstall driver via Driver sweeper in Safe mode(i've similar problem before on friend PC when Intel HD causing BSOD,he removed driver, but at the end still persist in some form in registry)

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Securit...-Sweeper.shtml

And let windows install driver alone, sometimes this help

I have used driver sweeper to clean out the old drivers and have tired a few different ones. 12.3, 11.12, and 11.11 but they all cause the blue screen.

should i just keep trying older driver versions?

is there anything in the bios that could be set wrong?

thanks
ian

Hi Ian

Can you try another game or try some 3D Mark and FurMark

Here is link on FurMark:

http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/

Because what i've read,BF doesn't like crossfire cards and mainaly people with 4870X2 have problems with them.

Have look on this please and you will see what i mean

Two things to check (Option B is common resolution to your problem)

A: Is your crossfire installed properly? (Both hardware wise and software wise) If you are unsure, remove a GPU and try BF3 with only one GPU running, if it works fine (Albeit slow) then you know its a crossfire issue. If so, make sure the strip is in properly and not to tight.

B: Are your GPU units overclocked?! Overclocked GPU's and BF3 dont always get on, if not ignore this! If they are, remove the overclock and I would bet good money it start working! If you are unsure, try a program like RivaTuner (Select force to default) or the software that came with your GPU and or Motherboard (95% now come with overclocking facilities for GPU/CPU and RAM)

~ If your not 100% sure overclocking/resetting PM me ~

..... I only came on here for help on finding my first scoob

4870X2 is dual GPU card, which if you are look at the Device Manager, there you have two cards under Display Adapters

But looking you have only problems with BF games and which using Frostbite engine

Second option if you want enjoy the BF3 is try this Go to your CCC and 3D Settings and disable A.I.

Try with this if game will be playable without the BSOD
