Reinstalling XP seems extreme, but I can't find anything at the moment in the InstallShield stuff I have here.

i had a similar problem with xp, only this time it would not accept any sound drivers for any sound card i put in. I was told npot to reinstall and spent 3 days tring to fix it but with no results.

In the end i reinstalled and it picked up everything stright away!

Since you said your problem is wide spread affecting ALL games, try getting the latest drivers for ur motherboard, grafics card and sound card FROM THE MANUFACTURES WEBSITE, NOT MICROSOFT as sometimes they ***** it up.

If that fails, reinstall that puppy!

McBrun555,
I will try, but I have just found out that my brand new mobo and processor are faulty. I have done all the updates from microsoft including 1 that had an amd k7 update.
What I might do is uninstall all updates and try and run the game.
Then I should have my hardware replaced shortly.
Anyway I'm not making sense anymore and I need some sleep.
I will let you know guys
Later

Question

Stevep, did you do an install over a previous OS or did you do a clean install of XP? A clean XP (ie format drive and install) is much better then installing over an old OS.

I think I have just found out what it is???
It's because I'm a spaz and my user account is on lockdown so I do not have rights to install F all.

For anyone thats interested I ended up doing an unconditional format on my hard rive then installing XP with an NTFS partition.
Now I can't even look at avi's and mpg's. I've downloaded all updates and quicktime and this and that. Sod it!!!
So I'm formatting it again and trying FAT32.
A very pissed off Steve thats very good at reinstalling P.C's
