Macbook keeps dropping wifi signal.
I use an old white Macbook OS 10.4.11 with all updates, preferences regularly reset etc. It keeps cutting the BT Homehub signal when on the wifi band. I have tried two different hubs and it works on both for minutes-hours and then suddenly just drops the connection. It is fine when on an ethernet cable so am I correct in assuming that there is a glitch/fault/issue with the wifi "bits" inside the laptop and it will have to be an Apple diagnosis/repair job ? I don't suppose that there is anything I can try is there ?
Does this all make sense ?
Cheers and thanks

Wifi drivers are built into the OS so you cannot reinstall them.
You could try turning off airport and then removing all traces of the wireless network you were connected to from the machine.
have a look in System Preferences -> Network -> Airport and remove any entries for the network, also go into Applications -> Utilities -> Keychain access and search for the name of the wireless network and remove anything you find.
Reboot, turn airport on and reconnect to the wireless network and see if it helps any.
It does sound like it might be a hardware issue though.

Thanks all.
I have just tried all that Markus so will see what happens today. Otherwise it will be a phone call to the Apple dealer.
Cheers

I guy who I work with had the same issue with his mac book recently, I know he took it to an apple store to be checked over and it was the airport card which needs replacing, he was quoted £80 for this which seems quite reasonable. That was at the apple store in meadow hall, Sheffield, hope that helps

I have the same thing on my MacBook. Other laptops work fine with it. Had another issue with sky before switching to BT and I could not connect at all. After about 8 phone calls where I had to repeat the problem over and over I eventually was told to change the security type and then I had no issues.

http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/ I use this on my PC to find a wifi channel that isn't being used near me, it has solved most of my wifi signal dropping issues, although it won't work in mac mode, do you have a windows pc you can run it on?
BT Homehubs are temperamental when there is a signal on the same channel you are using.
