Dead i-pod ?
I bought my wife a 5th gen Nano about 2 years ago, always worked fine and hardly used that regularly.
Anyway it needed charging, attached it to the dock on the midi system in the kitchen and it didn't even light up, plugged mine into said midi and it was fine, then plugged hers in to the pc again no charge still dead, again mine was fine on the pc.
I've done the usual reset procedures holding the menu and centre button etc and because it's dead that didn't have any affect, having spent the last hour on Google I cant see anything to suggest this will work again
any suggestons from the Apple massive ?
My Classic is twice as old, has daily play, been dropped and abused and still going strong, I think the Nano is too young to die just yet ??

Sounds like the battery is fooked. Assuming it's Li-Ion or Li-Po they don't like being left in a discharged state. Always store them nearly fully charged (e.g. 80%).
Pretty sure you can get kits off eBay to dismantle them and fit a new battery.

Thanks CD, thought as much, missus now getting upset as she wanted a playlist for our youngests birthday party tomorrow, seems the failed pod is all my fault, at least I have agreed to put some of her sh1te on my pod for the day.
Anyone sent theirs back for repair ?? or is it cheaper to buy another which I'm loathed to do, should have lasted longer imho, especially as SN has indoctrinated me in the superiority of all things Apple

Thanks
I'll plug it in for the evening and if no joy i'll grab a battery kit off e-bay, didn't realise you could do it yourself, the instruction on YT is dead simple
Cheers for the tip, should save me a few quid !!

Plugged it into the pc last night and about an hour later an ico popped up saying driving installed and I looked across at the pod and the apple symbol was on it's screen then it disappeared, pressed the menu button but still no life in it, very odd.
I have left it plugged in all night and will check it again this evening, if no life i'll get the battery pack and probably end up killing it totally when I attempt to replace the battery lol

Do you have a iPhone mains charger? That would charge it better.
My sisters iPad was dead even when I plugged it in the mains (no charge symbol£ left it for a few hours and it booted up fine.

I know my missus' froze and I thought it was for the bin but there are ways to "reboot" them. one of them is shown below but the apple website can be quite useful
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
