new phone/contract
i have a 3gs on 02 and can upgrage/leave now
im thinking about seeing what the nexus prime is like tomorrow, but if it isnt that wow, im thinking about the galaxy s2
i have found the galaxy s2 for £17 per month, 900 mins/900 txts, 1 gb data on a 24 month contract. pay £149 for the phone, but can get a £60 cash back (on 3 i think)
whats everyone think? any better phones/deals out there?
thanks
ian

I'm liking these deals at the mo.
They're not contract, so don't come with a phone but the tariffs are fantastic.

Bit underwhelmed. Only a 5mp camera (although it's got some funky features), and no sd card expansion port like on the galaxy s2. No mention of pricing yet I see...

Nice clear day outside and a 5mp will do a fine job, Friday night club and I doubt anything except a dedicated camera will get you much in terms of pic quality.

Possibly, but I can see a big difference between the photos taken on my (future) wifes Nokia compared to my iPhone 3gs. That's 2mp vs 5mp. Might just be that the iPhone camera is really naff of course

My iPhone 4 is a fine holiday snapper, but I do stress holiday snaps, in sunlight.
(Wife has the 3gs and I agree with you on that camera).

Quite a good write up here. I'm less than convinced it's a good buy...

I read somewhere that the galaxy s2 will run icecream sandwhich os. certainly hope so if not it will be very annoying. im not a huge apple fan but they are good making their os releases backward compatable. the galaxy s2 is a superb phone though.

Well considering 3 came bottom of the happiness table for customers, and its coverage is interesting to say the least you can take your pick, good deal no network bad customer service etc, or do some reading up on the networks and see what really is your best deal.

im on 3 and have never suffered probs apart from in wales where no one else could get signal either, customer svs if you need them are bad though.
I would get the phone on their one plan, £35 quid per month, unlimited data (1gb wont last long with a smart phone), few thousand mins and few thousand texts

I've been a 3GS user for a couple years now and been out of contract for a while. On a Sim only deal with O2 and got a great cashback offer to do so.
However, even though my wife has an Iphone 4 and I like the feel and design of it, I'm going to be getting a Galaxy s2 - reviews have been outstanding and it doesn't feel too big in my hand when I've tested it out in the shops and the screen quality is superb.
Just going to be buying one from Amazon once the price drops to around £390 again.

My HTC Hero is finally getting retired, it has been a brilliant phone, looks stylish and has served me really well for the past 24 months, but its now starting to struggle a little, i have been using the phone a little more for video recording and the Hero video is utter horrible, so i have a Samsung Galaxy S2 on route, well actually the delivery was today, but nobody was home, so i have to pick the think up from a sorting depot tomorrow after work.
I was torn between the Galaxy S2 and the HTC Sensation, i think the Galaxy beats in in performance, but the higher res screen of the HTC was making things hard to decide, plus the HTC unit looks better built, i dont mind HTC`s "sense" skin, but i am not keen on the Samsung "touchwiz" stuff (or whatever its called...)
I will be rooting the Galaxy ASAP and flashing on a different rom without the daft skin stuff over the top.
Mazuma Mobile will give me £49 for the old Hero as well which i was quite surprised by, saves me bothering with eBay and dealing with time wasting tossers

FWIW the Galaxy S2 is going on my old Tmobile "Combi35" plan which is iirc around £35 per month (inc vat)
Phone costs £10 (HTC Sensation was free)
1000 mins free + unlimited texts (iirc)
Internet was used as my office broadband connection for a few months as i closed the business down and i usually got near the "fair use" warning at the end of the month

My missus just got an upgrade to a Samsung Galaxy S2 from Vodafone and the phone arrived today. £23 a month over 24months, 600mins, unlimited texts and unlimited interwebs with the phone for free.
I thought this was a good deal, i'm paying more for my 9700 ffs.
Went into Phones4u to see what they could do, sharp ***** thats fill your head full of sweety mice.

Picked up my galaxy 2 this evening, had it around 20 mins before it was rooted and flashed with VillainRom 3.0
I miss the dedicated Hero search button the rest seams good!
The rom flash did not remove all the Samsung bloat though, need to look into it a little more.

Jamescsti, just got this months bill, used just over 9gb this month I do stream music though at work, and have live traffic info travelling to work (long commute), then there are emails, checking the internet etc etc soon adds up
