Default PS3 Game Save Backup

I'm trading my old style ps3 for a new slim version tomorrow and need to back up all my game save data.

Can someone please advise the best way to do this.

Also, on black ops, I've downloaded all the map packs, will I still be able to download these again without paying and will my online status be affected.

Many thanks...

Cant answer about the backing up of game save data
but i can answer about others,

Make sure you know your sign in details before you trade in your old ps3 and your online status will be ok, also delete your sign in details from your old ps3 before you trade it in,

When you sign back in with your new ps3 go to the ps store then go to your downloads at the top right of the screen and you should be able to download the maps again i think when you buy them first off you get to download them three time before you have to purchase them again.

You can backup all your saves to a memory stick then transfer them to your computer.

I do this every so often as a back up just in case.

I only tried this once admittedly a while back and Im sure certain games wouldnt let me backup the data which was quite annoying.

I used the PS3's inbuilt Data Transfer & Backup utilities to transfer my data from my old fat PS3 to the new slim.

This is how I did mine - a little more complicated since I also moved my 320Gb drive between the consoles. . . .

Edit: You may be able to get them to do the transfer by ethernet cable in the shop, depending on where you're trading in.

Yeah, I couldn't copy a couple of game saves but they were not important.

All done, old PS3 traded in for a 320gb slim model at Game this afternoon. Got £85 for it, not too bad but it was a hassle free trade so all good.
