Suffice to say that it will be the answer to every older iphone-user's dreams, and the butt of many insults from every other phone user.....

Then there will be the people who finally want to see what the fuss is all about.

Not taking the p1ss, nor starting an arguement - stating facts.

I'm interested to se what Apple will come out with, I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy S2 which is a fantastic piece of kit, best on the market but will be able to change March next year so I am half interested, for me I would want to see something completely new though, not a tweeked 4g, we shall see, wil be interesting.

Version of what exactly? iCloud is an update to Mobile Me which was an update to Mac.com which was an update to... I can't remember. And yes, it is much better than anything offered by MS and Google, and I use all three.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat really. Waiting for the next phone to arrive so I can buy one off plan and just swap my sim card over.

My 3g has been behaving rather badly for the last 6 months or so.

icloud seems very much like other services already available like dropbox. do i really want all my content to sync with all my other devices? not sure about that. uninstalled dropbox from my android after a day because i couldn't see the point.

my email and contacts sync with my google mail account and the images I WANT to sync do so with my picasaweb account.

just look at an existing android or windows phone if you want to see what new features they are going to be announcing today. they seem to have dropped the ball with ios4 and spent too much time on design and too little on functionality. if you have subscribed to this thread and have and iphone currently i hope the email notifcation doesn't spoil your game or anything

The iphone 5 will need to be really good to draw people away from android and windows. Especially with Google/Samsung making some big announcements next week on the 11th October. Expect the new Nexus phone to be a beast.

I'm hoping for...
  • A phone that I can actually use as a phone and doesn't crash on regular intervals when making a call
  • More reliable hardware, with buttons that don't wear out so quickly (my home button is very unresponsive now)
  • A vast improvement to Apple customer support (i.e. have some)
  • Email software that doesn't wipe all your stored mail off of the phone if you happen to change your email address (as I discovered last week grrrrr)
  • More storage space (32gb just isn't enough)
  • Better battery life (often have to charge mine twice a day)

Looking forward to see what they come up with. I'm out of contract now and am looking to replace the unreliable piece of poo that is my 3gs. Looking forward to seeing the announcements from the Samsung conference next week too. May be time to try something else...

Seems there will certainly be an iPhone 4S, basically an iPhone 4 with A5 chip and possibly upgraded camera (it's said that this new assistant thing needs the A5 to realize it's full potential). Also will be GSM and CDMA in one, rather than the two models at present. There is meant to be a low end 8GB version, and then the 4S will be in 16 and 32 configs, or 16, 32 and a new 64 config.

iOS 5 release date will be announced, probably ship a few days before the new device, and will come preinstalled on the new phones.

As for an iPhone 5, not totally convinced we are going to see one, get the feeling it'll be similar to the the 3GS situation.

It would be nice if Steve popped in to say Hi. Might be why they changed the setting as well, make it easier for him. Doubt he'll be running things, that'll be Tim's job, but I can imagine him sitting in a comfy chair on the right of the stage.

I don't think we will se an iPhone 5 either, a 4'S' is on the cards with many leaked photos of components in China.

I expect its going to be, New 4'S', iOS 5 assistant (SIRI isa very good bit of software but limited to the states at the present), iCloud release date & maybe some new ipods.

I'd like to replace my 4 with the 5 but I doubt I will be buying the 4 'S' - I don't think its going to be worth it.
