Blueyonder Broadband Cable Modem Problem
I've had Blueyonder coming up 6 months now, very impressed with the speed.
Until yesterday
I've registered the MAC's of my laptop and PC so can use both, if I change between the 2 I normally power cycle the modem and the switched card picks up an IP address without problem.
Whats happening now is the modem will only talk to my laptop, my PC says it can't find a DHCP server, despite the modem power cycle
Cut to the chase, seems the modem has somehow got locked with the laptops MAC so won't talk with the PC's card....how can I do a reset on the modem? Its a Motorola (havn't got the model number on me at the mo')
Thanks for any suggestions, as per usual the tech support line ain't answering after 20mins on hold last night

I *think* I had this problem a while ago. Basically, I had to disconnect the modem from the laptop for nearly a day before it "forgot" the IP address of the laptop, and talked to the PC again.
This "forgetful" period can take anything from an hour to 24 hours I think......sorry for the lack of technical explanation!
Suffice to say, here's what I did :
1) Ensure you have entered both MAC addresses on your Self-Help
page on Blueyonder.
1) Disconnect the modem from the laptop/pc
2) I also powered the modem down and disconnected the modem
from Blueyonder cable network.
3) Wait a few hours.......
4) Reconnect modem to other PC/laptop and power everything
back up.
Blueyonder said they could do the above remotely in minutes, but it still didn't work - seems this "few hour" period is required for the modem/servers/blueyonder to forget what WAS connected.
Someone else can maybe help with more technical details??

Suffice to say, I now have the Motorola modem connected to a router/hub so that I no longer get this problem when switching between PC & Mac.......
ie, the MAC address of the router/hub (Apple Airport) is registered with the modem, and the PC & Mac use sub-nodes off of that.
It really is a pain that the Blueyonder modem/servers can't cope with switching between different network cards in various PCs in a timely manner......(ie, instantly!).

There is also a small reset button on the modem, on the back, near the power input. Its a small hole that you can poke a pin into.
This normally does the trick

Cable modem remembers the NIC mac address and record it in memory, if you reset the modem, via the reset button on the back then it should switch PC immediately!!!
Buy yourself a nice netgear router, and have done with it mate.

Er . . . . no
Should we ?
Basically mine, seems to wait for about 5 seconds before deciding to load a web-page, then it loads quite quickly, but the delay is really annoying
Don't know about everyone else ?

Yes, you need to book a fault with Albert Dock so we are aware of the problems and have an oppertunity to fix it
We can't fix what we don't know about. oh and I'm not having a go here
Sounds a little bit like a router / Cache problem
