Default Internet Explorer Users

described as probably borderline deficient, marginally able to cope with the adult world. sample survey has them with an IQ of approximately 80. adds a whole new meaning to "you have to be mental to keep using Microshaft products"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-14370878

The firm administered intelligence quotient tests to 100,000 internet users over a month.

"A significant number of individuals with a low score on the cognitive test were found to be using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) versions 6.0 to 9.0,” its report read.

“There was no significant difference in the IQ scores between individuals using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Apple’s Safari; however, it was on an average higher than IE users.”

AptiQuant stressed that using IE doesn't mean you have low intelligence. "What it really says is that if you have a low IQ then there are high chances that you use Internet Explorer," said AptiQuant CEO Leonard Howard.

It's a dreadful product.

My Windows updated itself recently - in its typical clunky and intrusive way - and now when I click IE I get about 5 option for what browser I want to use. If I click IE it wants to download 30 meg of data but IE was working fine before the update. It's frickin' retarded!

In fairness it is the default browser supplied with the OS. So if you know sod all, thats what you are going to use.

The more worrying thing is the number of people with low IQ using a computer and the internet.

[old fart mode ]

Back in my day, only clever people had computers, and only the elite had access to the internet. My modem was a US Robotics sportster operating at 33.6kbps purchased form 'icon' a computer superstore that pre-dated PC world, which gave me telnet and FTP access to my college's computer network. However its primary uses was for head to head deathmatch Doom and Duke Nukem

My usual dial-up ISPs was 'Barry's world' and 'Zetnet'

Corporate IT installed it for them in 2000. PR told Marketing that they needed flames on their Intranet.

Well as it happens it turns out the original story was a hoax.

Good thing really as I am sure Mac users will be the low IQ'ers... after all they always say how difficult it is to use a PC when the rest of us have no problem
