Default iPhone 3g sound problem.

Hi all.

Today my 3G developed a problem! There's no sound coming from it when I have an incoming call, plus no sound when I try and play music.

However, when I plug in some earphones, I hear sound. But, when playing music, it's all poor quality and muffled up?

Any one have any suggestions? Or is it time to throw it in the bin?

There might be something on iFixit.com that could help.

I tell you what might help, mine was stuck on the headphones once and all I had to do was be a bit aggressive plugging the headphones in and out, something was stuck. You may have different results.

Funnily enough I did try that, and had no joy. But, when I pushed the headphones jack in slowly to the point I hear music through them, the music/sound is spot on!!! yet, when I push the jack in fully, the sound is all muffled again

I'd be tempted to give it a good ragging, nothing much to lose.
