I dont want to alarm anyone as it is not major..
In our callcentre we have the scanner loaded on the agents pc's and they double click on the magnifying glass and then choose virus list... they can then browse the net...
Anyway of disabling this but leaving the magnifying glass on the taskbar..

David,
Which virus scanner? sounds like NAI VirusScan given the magnifying glass you mention.
If so, you can disable the icon under properties of VShield and you can disable it from being shutdown. You can also enable security on the property pages, but I haven't seen anything for disabling the view menu.
Maybe a registry hack is needed to turn it off, or even open a harmless app like Calc or something.

Yeah, I tried it here too.
What is it you want to stop? launching IE completely or just through the menu?
Maybe it's best just to restrict them to IE completely by some other means.

Hmm,
I changed the reg value to http://www.google.co.uk and it ran that instead. Maybe you could change the value to a blank local html page.
What's to stop them launching IE and manually going to that site without using the menu?

Jack, Have played around with this, but is the only way not to load the console at startup? If I dont load it, It will still run the epo tasks anyway wont it? as they are hidden from there anyway???

David,
If you configure all your automatic updates and scheduled virus scan first, then just disable the icon under the Vscan properties.
That should still allow everything to run and stop the user from f@nnying around with your settings.
