Default iPhone 4

has the problem with signal dropping off been sorted yet or do you still need to have a case of some sort so you arent actually touching the phone ?

Unsure if it's been sorted but best to have a case anyway. I have one in mine and have no problems! Plus screen protectors!

I wouldnt use it without a screen cover

Our lass has just upgraded from the 3gs and it kept dropping off from calls so she put a case on and its been ok since

I really thought this issue would have been sorted, My upgrade is in a week or two and its made me think about sticking with the 3gs.

I really dont want a case on tbh ( and if I did want a case I would like the option to be mine )

Just stick with the 3GS until the 5 comes out around June. I think! They should have sorted the signal problem with that!

i have never used a screen protector in the 2 years with my 3gs. they have a glass type screen, and very hard to mark. i have not got a single mark on my screen.

i have had mine in a case. but tbh i think it gets screched more, as bits if dust/dirt/grit etc etc get between the phone and case and rub. the only reasion i keep mine on is to give it abit of protection from small drops etc.

No it's not been sorted and if you use it without a case it is a very real problem. That being said 99% of people use a case and there is no problem then so get a case.

Even if the problem occurs the 4 is very good and picking up a signal again quickly unlike the two 3GSs I had that were close to useless!

It is a very good phone the SMS interface aside, but even that is a personal issue I have with it looking noddy and not providing delivery receipts.

I'm considering the Samsung Galaxy S2, it's had some good reviews and looks a very good phone.

iPhone 5? My money is on an iPhone 4S. Has an A5 processor, and supports CDMA and GSM, thus no need for separate models. Part of me says the iPhone 5 will ship with iOS 5, but that'd be mid / late next year, possibly a bit long (iOS 5 and Lion will be primary focus for WWDC 2011) for 4.x to keep chugging away, but we're on 4.3.2 now, 4.3.3 or 4.4 will appear within a month, and 4.5 three months after, so perhaps the timing will be right.

The white one is thicker as well

Just picked up the white iPhone 4 and realized it doesn't fit into my Incase slider case. It appears that Apple has increased the size of the plastic that borders the glass on both sides by about 1mm.

can we have some more photos showing the 1mm differance as three is not enough!

Why would they change the case when nothing is wrong with the iphone 4

I never use a case and have never had a call dropped. I think people hold their phones wrong.

It is probably due to the paint being thicker as Jack suggests, and the reasoning behind this is due to light leakage, and that is why it took so long for the white iPhone 4 to come out. The original case / paint application process caused too much light leakage.

The white iPhone 4 coming out now is also I feel a reason for no iPhone 5, as it's rather late in the lifecycle for the 4. Hence why I think a 4S, in the same case as a 4, and the iPhone 5, which could also have less face bezel will be later.
