BT exchange distances
#3
According to EasyNet's DSL info...
1 and 2Mbps supported up to 3.5km from the local DSL-enabled exchange
0.5Mbps service supported up to 5.5km from an enabled exchange
Not sure if the 0.5 service is RADSL though.

I think someone's moved my house when I wasn't looking
I've currently got HH which works over a greater distance than ISDN (but I think I was in range for ISDN anyway).
But suddenly I seem to be out of range for even RADSL, even though it was OK last month

http://www.nothing-on.tv/adsl/std_query.html any good? Database is little out of date when I've used it.

Cheers Chris
I have to get my line downgraded before I can order ADSL, so need to know its going to work or else I'll have to pay to upgrade it to HH again

Generally speaking the faster you go, the shorter the line it will work at. However, a lot depends on the quality of the cables to your house. We have 2Mb HDSL running at 4Km no problems, yet it won't run on another line at 600m, so even if you do fall into the '<3.5km away from the exchange' bracket, your line may still not support the faster services. Chances are that if your house is fed totally underground on modern copper cabling then assuming the distance is good then you'll be OK.

It's a new estate, everything is underground.
Looks like I'm looking at £150 installation as my line needs to be downgraded first, and there's still no guarantee that it can be upgraded to ADSL
