help needed to uninstall ?

hi all
trying to uninstall norton antivirus 2000 so that i can install 2002.
trouble is i cant find it in the install/uninstall programs box.
it was on my pc as part of a software package when i bought it and there is no disc for it.
i have come across a thing called "smart restore" and it is listed in here with the choice of installing or uninstalling. when i uninstalled it i tried to install 2002 but it still said there is an older version of norton on pc and cant install 2002 untill 2000 is removed.
ive since reinstalled 2000 using smart restore so i have some protection.
any ideas anyone, and i need it explaind in baby language as im pc illiterate.
