i wonder how they find out/check up if you are a student or not?

They probably don't - you do have to fill in which education facility your are from and provide an email address for there though.

Also, you don't have directly be a student - "Students in any level of education and their family members are eligible" so chances are most people can find someone to help them meet the criteria.

I've used this place several times. It's one of the sites recommended by Microsoft for student software. I can assure you they don't check your student status.

That was for Windows 7 upgrades though. Not sure if they sell the full package. But £34 for a Windows 7 Pro upgrade is pretty good.

I used Software 4 Students a few months back to get Office 2010 Pro on dvd for about £40 delivered (think you can install on 2 machines). Just clicked Open University and no other checks at all lol. Some s/w has more stringent checks like Adobe.

I did look at W7 and iirc they only offer upgrade versions ie you need a legit version of windows already.

You can use the upgrade disk to install a clean install (i.e. without an existing copy of Windows) with a couple of minor hacks (and in fact, I didn't even need to do them, it just installed perfectly first time!).

have got Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

not to bad, full version brand new £35 delivered

said something about Irish copy, and it says made in Ireland on it.

but it went on the pc fine, and all the codes work, updates work and MS have comfirmed it as a gen version. so all good really.
