I am now back online after a 1 week ADSL outage and over that week i have been using a friends spare modem to get my emails etc...
Now i though that i would not be that bothered about the outage, afterall i had a modem and could get online,
Boy was i wrong, 1 week of shear ####, fustration etc.., and i will never be without it again,
Now over the last month or so myself and the wife have been looking for a new house and i though that i would prob have to give up the ADSL if we found a house out in the sticks, over the weekend we found said house and i know for a fact it cannot be connected to home highway (isdn) let alone ADSL, the house really fitted everything we needed except the internet connection,
The wife loved it and wanted to put a offer in, but as i was going through withdrawal agony of connection, that was on my mind and i said i dont like it (did not tell her the real reason of course!
Now put me out of my misery
AM I A SELFISH ******* or should this be a consideration to a house purchase

There is a kind of compromise currently being trialled by BT.
This involves using a Satelite downlink but a modem uplink. Cost is mean't to work out at £ 15 per month plus the phone charges & £400 install. Not ideal but may keep the wife sweet...
(I'd find a house in a ADSL area that she likes more.....)

how about this:
http://www.tele2.co.uk/
wireless broadband. might be what you are after, if of course you're in the range.
I've not used it, but a mate does, and he really rates it.
