Mac Gurus - how to disable the Bluetooth connection?
Or how to password enable Bluetooth connection setup?
Basically I've got about 20 Macs that are bluetooth enabled. I want to be able to password them (admin password) so that the users can't initiate Bluetooth connections.
Possible to do?
Don't want to run multiple users with limited access though - is there a simple script or application?

Got a Mac server? If so, are the clients set to login against it? You could use Workgroup manager's "Preferences" option to disable the Bluetooth preference option via there.
If they aren't networked then you can run WGM against the local netinfo database and configure the disabling of system prefs there too.
Not sure if it'll work on admin users though. Work trying.
Another option is to jump into terminal and do the following:
cd /System/Library/PreferencePanes/
sudo mkdir disabled
sudo mv Bluetooth.prefPane disabled
Now BT prefpane isn't visible when you go into system preferences. Disadvantage is that you'll have to move it back to use it. You could knock up a script to do this though (if it's in disabled folder, then enable if, and vice versa)
Another option might be to go into /System/Library/CoreServices/ and do something with Bluetooth Setup Assistant. This is the app that is launched when you click "+" in the bluetooth pref pane.
You could probably stick a copy on a USB key / Network share, so if you do need to use it's there.
