Default one for the apple know it alls!!!

Hope im in the right section, can anyone help, iv just about come to the end of my tether with it!!

Right i have an Iphone 3g, its not jailbroken or anything. its stuck on the boot screen. Ie the apple logo with the loading wheel. it all started a few months back when it stopped charging so i traced it to the docking connector. I replaced that all was ok for a while, then it stopped charging again. i opened it up and the dock connector plug had come off. Now its stuck on the boot screen! it turns on and off, connects to itunes, but wont go past the boot screen. iv been searching on google for answers but not found anything that works. iv tried a itunes restore, done a DFU restore.
Does anyone have any other ideas i could try or im gonna bin the bloody thing!!!

Thanks in advance
R1C

So iTunes sees the phone? What happens if you restore it from iTunes?

Hi m8 I repair these for a living, try a search "iPhone recovery mode loop" on google this should sort it. It's dos but runs fine in xp. The program is call irecovery.

If you need help just pm me I can send you the link with help

Otherwise change the dock connector again

hi colin, i looked at the irecovery site this afternoon, i opted against as in the comments section it said about it buggering up computers with Vista installed. would another faulty dock connector do this again as it syncs and charges?
cheers for the reply

Yea m8 it's xp only software, can't you get a m8 with xp and try it. I'm sure it will sort it.

If it's restoring ok and charging then I doubt it's the ribbon.

Best way would be restore it make sure it's all up and running then power off the phone unplug the charger ribbon and then power it back on. This will prove if it's the ribbon.

If it's still the same then it's either irecovery or water damage which I can fix too

Hope that helps

Recovery Devices
If you connect a device in recovery mode you can still kick it out of recovery (Right click -> Kick out of recovery)

Did you download from the official site?

I've never had a problem with tinyumbrella or the other thousands people that use it

Also umbrella doesn't touch any iTunes files what so ever. Maybe it's just a coincidence

When you phone is in recovery tinyumbrella will Only let you kick it out. What error code are you getting through iTunes?

no error code flags up! is there any way of reading them?

sorry my previous post isnt clear mate. if i connect the phone to tinyumbrella it picks it up as normal as does itunes. if i put it into DFU mode as it says on the TU website, it then gives the option to 'exit recovery' which it does. but the phone is still on the apple screen with the spinning wheel.
hope that is better described

Right put in dfu mode first then restore via iTunes , wait for that to restart then try kick it out recovery.

It may work but sounds something serious tbh

Right, update guys! It's working! I tried the restore and that again. It didn't work! So I took it apart and found a pin on connector 3 was bent, give it a tweek and rebuilt now it's fine!! Thanks for all your help guys! Looks like its the way I built it after doing the dock connector!
Cheers again Rich
