Default Flavours of Linux

Thinking of having a dabble in Linux just to see how it performs etc.

Currently have a macbook pro running OSX and using virtualbox want to run windows (XP and 7 ) and another OS so linux seemed the obvious choice but which one is a good start ?

Linux Mint 10, Fedora, openSUSE and as said, Ubuntu.

Have a look and see what takes your fancy.

Well all installed and working okay (ish)
Actually did the install on the train going home

Installed guest additions

Just finding my way around the system and tweaking it. First issue I have is full screen. The OS cant seem to understand my native resolution on the macbook pro, defaults to 800 x 640.

Any ideas how I get it to see the macbook pro graphics card ?

Does crtl + F not do it? Use the one of the right side of the keyboard not the left.

Yes that worked ! God knows why it was not working at the weekend

Only thing is the resolution is fine now but the monitor is still unrecognised, is that normal ?
