Steve Jobs taking medical leave
Nothing too serious I hope. Usually not great news when someone does this.

Hmm, not good for the guy I feel. Pancreatic cancer took my father-in-law, and we were told then it was amongst the worst cancers you can get with a very low survivability rate. With his wealth I am sure he can afford every treatment known to medical science.
Might be time to buy some Apple shares though

Makes you wonder, if Jobs ever did have to step doen long term, how would this affect the company's future?
In theory it shouldn't, as its ran by a board of directors, but the share prices seem to suggest otherwise; Is Jobs the only visionary member on the board of directors? Surely not.

The company has shown that in his absence it can function, churn out great products etc but there is always that tie that says Apple = Steve.
I am sure they have people inline to be successors. just wonder if the shares can handle the change

To add to the above, a few years ago someone on 4chan started a rumour that he'd had a heart attack. http://csinvestor.com/steve-jobs-hea...han-by-a-teen/
That's a hell of a fall for a company of that size... it just goes to show.

For what anyone says, he is a charismatic front man for the company and the face of Apple for sure. He was indeed ill a while back and had the transplant for it. He has apparently announced a six month break, so only time will tell.
Would indeed be daft for the departure of him to cause a drop in interest, but the market is a funny old place.
Get well soon Mr Jobs

Bill Gates left Microsoft, Win 7 is still pants and Win 7 Phone is a flop.
Steve Dies, Apple products are still the best available and iPhone is a resounding success.
Nothing changes unless Apple wants it to.

He had a liver transplant a short while ago and with that you do get ups and downs with your immune system and it is likely he is having a down due to it so is taking time out to relax
No doubt some scum journo will try and wheedle more details out of people about it. Just because he is the face o apple, does not mean his life should be open for all to see

Wouldnt write him off yet, wouldnt want to to, I am no Apple fanboy but he and his company have definitely moved things on massively.

Maybe when karks it the company will be free to make products unencumbered by the will of one man.
Probably though, his brainwashed underlings will carry on as normal
Maybe he has willed his company to Bill Gates!
Geezer

Personally i think this report is just a smokescreen, its more likley that Steve Jobs has rung in sick to go for a job interview like we all do from time to time, he`s probably trying to convince the good people at HTC that he`s the right person for the job as we speak.
He`s probably realised like we all have that its at HTC where all the action and new innovations are, you can`t blame any person for wanting to better themselves.

I like being a bit different, I bought an Iriver HD Mp3 when everyone else bought Ipods, same price but more features even though the interface was miles off even then, its just gone to its new owner who is thrilled with it.
Apple do need to get a smaller tablet to market sharpish.
